Johnson, Scott

Title: Attorney at Law, Environmental; Real Estate; Land Use; Municipal

Scott Johnson Law PLLC is an environmental and real estate law firm.  My practice focuses on helping clients make fully-informed decisions regarding the purchase, development and clean up of contaminated or potentially contaminated property.   I help clients understand and manage the risks they may face as past, present or future owners or operators of contaminated property and make sure that others assume their fair share of liability.  I also work with clients to comply with other environmental and land use regulations, from the Clean Water Act to SEPA to land segregation.  In addition, I am a skilled real estate attorney who negotiates and drafts documents for any kind of real property transactions and who protects clients’ rights as owners, buyers or sellers of real property through litigation if necessary.

In providing legal service to my clients, I apply 18 years of experience in advising high-level decision makers on a variety of legal and policy issues.  My success stems from my ability to translate complex legal concepts into clear information, and offer my clients strategies for resolving difficult issues in a cost-effective manner.  I am dedicated to my clients, attentive, responsible and responsive.  My overarching goal is to build long-lasting relationships with my clients, which is key to providing legal services that are closely tailored to each client’s needs.

Prior to opening Scott Johnson Law PLLC in 2011, I was a Senior Deputy Prosecuting Attorney in the Civil Division of the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s office for nearly 12 years.  In that role, I represented the county and advised county staff regarding real estate transactions, environmental liability and compliance, transportation policy and a host of other subject matter.  I have also served as an attorney for the Navajo Nation and in the Washington State Attorney General’s Office as well as an associate in mid-size Seattle law firm.  I received my law degree from the University of Washington School of Law.  I am a Washington State native and enjoy exploring its environs with my wife and children.
